We call it Inkitecture™ — our name for what happens when ink stops sitting on top of a surface and becomes part of the building itself. It's the idea behind every direct-to-wall, floor, and glass print on this page.
Our Background
Both founders of DODS DesignWorks are electrical engineers by training. Our careers were built in industrial marking and coding — specifically inkjet systems, labeling systems, and laser systems used on commercial and industrial production lines. That background included time with a company based in Milan, Italy, plus years of international collaboration across manufacturing and print technology, before we brought that same precision to architectural wall and floor printing.
DODS DesignWorks operates the MK-02 direct-to-surface UV printing system, sourced from Friankor. We're a trained, direct-relationship operator of the MK-02 — not a reseller, and not a generalist print shop running one machine among several.
Friankor refers international inquiries about the MK-02 system directly to DODS DesignWorks. That relationship is a large part of why a hyper-local, St. Louis-based business regularly hears from people well outside the St. Louis area asking about the MK-02 itself.
The MK-02 runs on Epson PrecisionCore print heads — the i1600 and i3200 — the same industrial inkjet technology Epson is known for. Native 600 DPI resolution and ink droplets as small as roughly 3.5 picoliters mean smooth, photographic gradients instead of a visible dot pattern.
Industrial marking and coding equipment has to run reliably on a production line — wrong settings mean scrapped product, not just a bad print. That's the discipline behind the way we approach every wall: surface prep, ink behavior, resolution, and equipment calibration are treated as engineering problems first, creative problems second.
It's also why we can speak directly to facility managers, IT departments, and procurement teams who want more than "it looks great" — they want to know how the equipment works, what the surface requirements are, and why it holds up.
Life AM (After Mural)
Two Coats of Paint
(that's the whole process)
Changing your mind later is as simple as repainting — no special process, no removal service to call. And if you're leasing, you were already going to repaint between tenants. There's no vinyl to scrape, no adhesive residue, no plastic waste. Just paint.
Efficient By Design
Less Than a K-Cup
(less than 30 mL of ink)
That's all the ink a typical 30-foot wall uses — less than the volume of an empty K-Cup, and a fraction of the material vinyl requires. And because it lasts for years, it pays for itself several times over before you'd ever need to touch it again.
Floors + Walls Working Together
Pair floor graphics with architectural wall murals to create destination spaces, guide traffic, reinforce identity, and make everyday interiors feel designed from the ground up.

Experience the "Ink-on-Wall" difference
This same design flows from the drywall straight onto the glass, tying two different surfaces into one uniform look instead of two separate treatments. On the glass, privacy doesn't mean frosting the entire pane — the pattern is printed directly onto the glass and placed exactly where it's needed to soften sightlines into the room, while the rest stays clear so light and views still pass through.
Our advanced technology allows us to print high-definition imagery directly onto almost any substrate. Whether your surface is smooth, textured, or porous, we ensure a perfect bond and vibrant color.
Painted drywall, brick, stone, and wood.
Concrete, ceramic tile, and vinyl.
Glass, metal, and more.
Unlike traditional vinyl wraps, our digital printing technology applies ink directly to your surface.
Vinyl requires overlapping panels for large murals, leaving visible seams that can catch dust or be picked at by children in a pediatric or dental office. Wall printing is seamless and "tattooed" into the surface.
Vinyl often fails on the brick or textured concrete common in commercial builds. Wall printing maintains a consistent price on these surfaces where vinyl would require expensive specialized "high-tack" materials and heat-gun installation.
Digital wall prints are cured instantly with UV light and are scratch-proof and easy to sanitize, whereas vinyl can bubble in humid environments like gyms or fitness centers.
Whether your project is large or small, you’ll work directly with our local St. Louis team of industry veterans dedicated to precision, problem-solving, and art. We consult with you every step of the way to turn your vision into a lasting reality.
Experience the process from digital design to vertical application.
